When you start reading all the editorial policies that the editors invoke when it serves their purposes, and the fact that a subject can't correct information about themselves in any form (I understand people rewriting their history), it just becomes absurd.

I mean, you should be allowed to control the orthography and appearance of your name, at the very least.</description>
